Trip Itinerary
March 28 - Arrive in Kyoto
The adventure begins in the amazing city of Kyoto. We will gather in the afternoon for a whisky distillery tour and prepare our bicycles for the adventure to come. After that we will head out to a yummy sushi dinner.
March 29 - Bike tour of Kyoto (About 50 kilometers)
Explore the city by bicycle and take in many of the great gardens and temples. One of our stops on this day is the Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for having thousands of beautiful tori gates.
March 30 - April 1 Kyoto and Lake Biwa - (About 180 Kilometers)
We will spend the next three days cycling around the largest fresh water lake in Japan, Lake Biwa or Biwa-Ko as it is called in Japanese. We will overnight at a local ryoken and hotels along the way.
April 2 - Ride to Nara
Today we will ride to the 1,300 year old city of Nara. We will arrive in Nara with time to explore the city before dinner.
April 3 - Rest day to explore Nara
Nara is worth a little more time so we are giving you a day to explore. There will be a guided walk and sake tasting available as well.
April 4 - ride to Yoshino Valley
Calling this a valley is a bit decieving. This is more of a mountain side covered in 30,000 cherry trees. We will cycle about half way up to our local inn for the evening and take in the beautiful views in the evening before a traditional dinner at our hotel.
April 5 - ride to Osaka
From a beautiful mountainside to the lights of Osaka, today’s ride is all about contrast. We will celebrate our ride with a night on the town in one of Bob’s favorite cities.
