How long has Beer & Bike Tours been in business?
2013 was our first year providing tours commercially. Our background is in the bicycle industry and as travelers. You could say that we finally decided to take the training wheels off of our idea. Thank you for coming along for the ride, you will not be disappointed.
What should I bring?
Each tour participant will be sent a complete packing list of all necessary items. It varies from tour to tour.
What else is included and what is not?
Under each tour listed there is a complete list of what is included during your trip.
How should I prepare for my trip?
While many our trips are in the mountains general cycling fitness is all that is required. We will provide you with training advice to help you make the most of your tour when you arrive. The better your cycling shape the more you will enjoy your trip.
Do you offer family trips?
We call our family trips "Root Beer and Bike Tours." As parents ourselves we understand what it takes to entertain kids and enjoy travel as an adult as well. Any of our multi-day or day tours can be converted to a Root Beer and Bike ride.
Is there an age requirement for the tours?
A parent for safety reasons must accompany all participants under 18. In order to sample the beer you must be 21 years old. If you are bringing along your children give us a call so we can help find the right tour for your family.
On tour FAQs
What can I expect from the weather?
The weather will vary depending on the specific tour and also the time of the year. For each tour you will receive a specific packing list taking the weather in account. In general the weather in Colorado in the summer is mild and wonderful, especially in the mountains. However it can still get cool in the evening.
How difficult is the riding, how hilly?
The riding is as challenging as you want to make it. By keeping our groups small we can adjust a daily ride for the whole group or an individual without hassle. There is always a way to make a longer day of it if you would like. If for any reason you wish to ride in the van for a bit or a whole day you are more than welcome to.
What will the group be like?
In a word…small. We keep our tours small unless you have a larger group you want to all come on the same tour. We limit our group size to 12 participants and at least one tour leader.
We have at least one guide for every six people to ensure you a personal experience.
How many miles is the average day?
Our daily average is between 20-50 miles. However on some tours there will be longer days. If you would like to ride more or less we can sort that out for you.
Are there options for less riding or non-riding partners?
Definitely. We can alter routes to accommodate all riding levels. Colorado has so much to offer we will find something to match the interest of non-riding partners.
I do not drink is a Beer & Bike Tour for me?
While our tours do involve tasting and sampling beer the tour is primarily a cycling tour. Considering the small nature of our group size it would be no problem to accommodate a non-drinking member on our tour.
Can I rent a bike or bring my own? Is there a discount if I bring my own?
Comfort and enjoyment is key to a successful tour. We have rentals available for you or you are welcome to bring your own bicycle on our Multi day adventures. Day tours include a bicycle suited for the ride you will be doing.
Do I need a helmet?
Helmets are required on all of our tours. We strongly recommend bringing yours but we have them available as well.
Can I bring my own pedals and helmet?
We strongly encourage bringing your own pedals, shoes, helmet and in some cases bike seat as well. The more comfortable you are the more you will enjoy the ride.
Should I tip my tour leader?
While we pay our guides well if you feel inclined I am sure they would never turn down a little extra for the hard work the do. Tipping is pretty common. The average guest tip is about $10 a guest on Day trips and $10-$20 a day on Multi day trips. Our guides work hard to make you adventure safe, fun and amazing
What food is provided?
This depends largely on the tour. On Multi day tours some meals are included. There is a tab on each tour with specific information on what meals are included.
Is there a limit on the luggage I can bring?
While we do not place a limit on what you can bring we ask that you pack light. We will send you a packing list with both essential items and optional items for your tour. If you are going to be traveling with extra luggage we may ask you to leave extra items at the beginning of the tour to save space in our vans. The bottom line is this is your trip not ours and you need to do what you need to do to feel comfortable. We are here to help with that.
Reservation FAQs
Can I bring a friend?
Of course. If you have a couple people you want to take the trip with let us know and we will make sure you are together.
Discount for teachers?
We offer a $100 discount to teachers booking a multi day tour. We understand how nice it is to not have to think in the summer. Enjoy your tour and let us handle the thinking and teaching, about yummy beer that is.
Kosher, Vegan, Veggie or Allergies accommodated?
What you want to eat is entirely up to you. If you let us know your dietary needs we will sort it out for you. On our sign up form has a short medical section, please list any allergies or conditions you may have so we can serve your needs better while on holiday.
How do I sign up?
You can sign up online here or by phone at 970-201-1085.
How much is the deposit?
The deposit for a tour with lodging is 25% with the balance due 45 days prior to departure.
Is the deposit refundable?
We understand that life happens. Hopefully our cancellation policy reflects that. Most importantly we want to help you experience the world of craft beer by bicycle. If you have to cancel a day tour for any reason give us a call or send along an email and we will help you reschedule or if that is not possible get a refund out to you quickly. However, no refund will be given for same day cancellations regardless of weather, we will however reschedule you on another tour. We will ride rain or shine so please check the weather and come dressed correctly. Groups of 5 or more must cancel 5 days before the tour because of the extra logistics to create a larger group tour. Any outstanding balance will be charged 24 hours before a day tour if there is a card on file. Our multi day tours are a little bit more difficult to cancel because of hotel reservations, flights for the guides and other logistics involved. We ask for 60 days notice on our trips to cancel. Within 60 days all multi day trips are non refundable. Gift Cards and Gift Certificates are non refundable.
Is it possible to arrange pre or post tour lodging?
We are happy to book your travel before and after your tour. Send us your arrival dates and we will sort everything on your behalf.
Is airport transfer available?
In most cases, Yes. Check first to make sure the airport or train stop you are arriving at is a possibility for us. If not we will help you find a shuttle.
Are the rates single or double occupancy?
All quoted rates are based on Double occupancy. If you would like to travel single occupancy there will be an additional charge depending on the tour.
Do I need travel insurance?
We do not sell travel insurance but strongly recommend the purchase of it.
What is the lodging like?
We try to book local hotels and bed and breakfasts that will give you a feel for the area. All our selected hotels are clean and well kept. We have chosen them based on both personal experience and references from other travelers. If there is a hotel in the area of a tour we offer you are interested in let us know and we will try and accommodate your request.
What if Beer & Bike Tours has to cancel a trip?
In the event that we have to cancel a trip you will be given the option of a full refund or a spot on a different tour at your discretion.
