Gravel/Road Adventure

Thinking about Scotland I am filled with images. From highland moors, remote lochs, and drams upon drams of whisky I also picture narrow quiet roads and path to take it all in. Working with our friends at Whisky and Wheels we have crafted a mixed surface multi day adventure from Inverness to Banchory sampling some of the best malt available.

6 days/ 5 nights

• Day 1 - Inverness ~ 20-30 miles

Our first day starts with a wonderful shake down ride to Loch Ness. After a short time searching for Nessy we will circle back to our first distillery stop for a taste of Highland malt. For those still able to pedal we will ride on to a local brewery before heading back to dinner and a relaxing evening in Inverness.

• Day 2 - Aviemore ~ 35 miles

Today we will ride to Aviemore. About half way through our ride will be a short visit to the Tomatin Distillery. As with all stops on this tour there will be an optional shuttle if you sample too much on the tour. At the Distillery we will also have the option to take in a food and whisky pairing, this is an extra cost but totally worth it. Upon arriving in Aviemore we will clean up before visiting Cairngorm Brewery. Dinner this evening is on your own however we will have a few options and normally all eat together. Time permitting we may also be able to visit a second distillery at the end of our ride.

• Day 3 - Tomintoul ~40 miles

Todays ride is a little harder on the liver than the legs but there is some climbing involved as well. We will be cycling early from Aviemore to visit a loop of great distilleries in surrounding Toumintoul. This is one of the more impressive whisky regions and it is going to be difficult choosing to ride or take the sag shuttle. This area is best known internationally for Glen Livet. Along with Glen Livet there are three other options for our visiting and sampling pleasure. Upon arriving in Toumintoul we will shower and then visit the Whisky Castle for a true higland shopping experience.

• Day 4 - Braemar ~35 miles

Do not be too hungover for todays ride as it is not an easy one. While the distance is not much we will be riding through some of the highest cycling routes in the Cairngorms. On our way into Braemar we will visit another distillery before one last climb into town and rest for the evening. This is one of the more beautiful rides of the trip and we will toast the ride at the end with a couple cold beers at a proper Scottish pub.

• Day 5 - Banchory ~45 miles

Our last days ride into Banchory is mostly down hill along the river Dee. We will finish in Banchory with a visit to the local distillery and post tour dinner and party featuring local beer and spirits paired with gourmet cooking followed by an evening drinking malt under the open air around a fire.

• Day 6 - Head on to the next adventure

Transfer to points a far is possible via Aberdeen and there are shuttle options available.
