COLORADO FALL LEAVES ADVENTURE
The changing of seasons in Colorado is amazing. The mountains are covered in with golden aspens. On this tour we will take you on some of the most picturesque riding in the state. Because the leaves change quickly we are leaving the exact rides for each day open to cater the mother natures whim and color.
The tour will be focused in the Central and southern mountains of Colorado. We will take in the sights around Aspen, Silverton, Ouray and Durango. The route is beautiful in all seasons but Fall is truly spectacular. The leaf season in the high country can be hard to catch so we have two options for timing. Have no fear there will be color on both of the options and you will love the ride regardless. If the color looks to be early or late we may adjust our route to catch the fall splendor the high country has to offer.
Our fall leaves adventure takes in the best of the Colorado High Country. We will spend the days riding in brisk Autumn mountain air and the evenings sampling some of the best craft beer in the state.
Day 1 - Arrive in Aspen
Arrive in Aspen and explore one of Colorado's famous mountain towns
Day 2 - Aspen - 25 miles
The first leg of our journey will take us on one of the most scenic rides in all Colorado. The Maroon Bells loop outside of Aspen frames picturesque mountains and lakes with change Aspen trees.
Day 3 - Telluride
Today we will transfer to Telluride and do a ride in the area taking in the scenery. When timed correctly this area will be full of vibrant Colorado color.
Day 4 - Telluride to Ouray - 50 miles
The ride from Telluride to Ouray is majestic. You will cycle along by streams, Mountains decked in fall color and postcard perfect mountains to the Switzerland of the United States. Ouray itself is picture perfect. Tonight we will sample brews from the Ouray Brewery over dinner and laughs.
Day 5 - Ouray to Silverton - 23 miles
While this ride is a shortish ride up and over Red Mountain pass on the Million Dollar Highway the result of your effort is highly rewarded in the town of Silverton, an old school mining town that looks much the same as it did in the late 1800's.
Day 6 - Silverton to Durango - 50 miles
The ride from Silverton to Durango is a glorious day of mostly downhill riding through high mountain splendor you will be talking about until you come back and do it again. The ride out of Silverton does go over two mountain passes but the beauty will help you not notice the climbs before your descent to Durango(shuttle is available if you just want to ride down). Tonight we will celebrate our adventure with dinner before parting ways.
Hotel is provided on final evening.
We will be adjusting the route to match the best leaf viewing if the color changes happen early or late this season.
